a brief hiatus

The ol’ blog is going on a brief hiatus until after school starts. We’re getting close to the start of classes and I haven’t done shit to prepare. This morning I dreamed I told my brother I was going to start doing my work regularly — and he was like You mean you haven’t been? How is that even possible!? I said, yeah, I’ve really been able to get away with doing it sporadically. But it causes problems. I said I have to tell you something else later too, and I didn’t get a chance to (in the dream) because I was working on getting my classroom ready (which is funny because I don’t have a classroom IRL) but it was this: Before I quit drinking, I worried that my life would get more tense and boring without it. But the opposite turned out to be true. Maybe it’ll be the same with doing my work. Plus, how am I gonna know if I need to get or make a different kind of job if I don’t do this one thoroughly?

Earlier in my dream cycle last night, someone I had learned to respect through a series of dangerous escapades told me you have to have a minimum of two rules for your life. So this — quitting this particular procrastination, and damn the consequences — is going to be my second one, for now at least. There’s dozens of other things it could be, and I’m not going to abandon working on those other things, but simplicity beckons.

As for the pigeons, they’re not going anywhere. We’ve finished all the (currently existing) random a words, so when we start back up, we will dive into the b’s (unless any new a’s appear in the meantime, in which case we’ll do them first)— woohoo!

Best al all things to you as you shift your creative mojo towards the work you do that helps to educate, motivate and inspire others. Thinking back to my own formative years, meeting a teacher like you would have had a very positive effect on my world, and self view. I'm grateful that I had a few influential teachers that had a positive impact.

Thanks for the encouragement — much appreciated and needed at this time of year 😅
